Beyond the red pen
I've spent more than 18 years immersed in the wonderfully messy business of getting words ready for the world – from the first germ of an idea to the final pre-press check.
Along the way I've edited magazines, shaped editorial strategy, wrangled complex technical and research publications, reviewed layouts, written features and supported strategic communications.
No two projects have looked quite the same, and that's exactly what I've enjoyed about them.
I've learnt which hills are worth dying on and which simply aren't. I'll fiercely protect a writer's voice when it's central to who they are, question anything that doesn't quite ring true, and happily fly my pedantic freak flag when the details matter. Most of all, I've learnt to stay calm when the inevitable curveballs arrive.
